A Loss and a Legacy

We at United Way, join people around the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton.

Here in Clallam County, Dolly has felt especially present this summer. Through the Find Dolly Scavenger Hunt, we spent the summer months celebrating her music, her spirit, her generosity and, most importantly, her belief that every child deserves the chance to dream. Through the Imagination Library, Dolly’s books have made their way into the homes of children across our community, creating moments of wonder, connection, and possibility for hundreds of families.

So while we grieve the woman we lost, we also celebrate the incredible legacy she left behind. Dolly didn’t just give children books. She gave communities a reason to believe in what is possible when we invest in children. Her dream reached Clallam County, and with your help, we can continue to carry it forward.

Donate to the Imagination Library

The Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting free books to children from birth to age five. Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library in 1995 to serve the children of her hometown in Sevier County, Tennessee. Today, her program spans five countries and gifts over 3 million free, high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to children around the world. There is never a charge to families who participate in the program and it is open to all children under the age of five in Clallam County.
